Tile work

Grout lines you'll actually want to look at.

New backsplashes, cracked tile swapped without wrecking the wall, and shower surrounds brought back to right. Tile rewards patience and punishes shortcuts, and Ken's built a career on the patient side.

What tile hides

The tile is the last 10%. What's behind it is the job.

Bad tile work usually isn't a tile problem, it's a prep problem: uneven substrate, the wrong backer, moisture nobody dealt with. Thirty years around inspections taught Ken to fix what's behind the wall before making the front of it pretty. So when he replaces a cracked shower tile, he's finding out why it cracked, and when he lays a backsplash, it's flat, level, and spaced so the lines run true from corner to corner.

Questions behind the repair

Can you replace one cracked tile, or does the whole wall come down?

Usually just the one, if you have a spare or a match exists. He cuts it out carefully so the tiles around it stay put.

Can you match my existing tile?

Sometimes. Discontinued tile is a real thing, and he'll tell you honestly whether a match exists, a close-enough works, or a small design change hides it better.

My grout keeps cracking in the same spot. Why?

Something's moving underneath, and regrouting alone won't fix it. Ken finds the movement first, then makes the repair that lasts.

Do you do full shower remodels?

Repairs and surrounds, yes. A full gut remodel that moves plumbing crosses into licensed territory, and he'll tell you straight and help you plan it right.
